Signs of a corrupt oil industry

Today we saw a significant drop in the price of light sweet crude, but what can we expect at the pump? Crude has shed about $60 or 40 percent of its value since soaring to a record $147.27 on July 11.* The U.S. national average for a gallon of gas was approximately $4.08.*

Based on the 40% drop today and what the price at the pump was in July 2008, we should now be paying… wait for it….    $2.45 per gallon!

We are actually paying approximately $3.40 per gallon. CORRUPTION!!!

San Diego Startup – Disaster Emergency Site

Cast your vote on ideablob for Disaster Emergency Information Site! By voting, you can help the team win $10,000 to support the project.

Description: Aggregate emergency/disaster information from every media source including tv, radio, blogs, twitter, and more. Published on one page per disaster and then separated into neighborhoods where pertinent, this website could put the info into the hands of the people who need it most.

I have a team already working on the first phase of a project which would aggregate both major media sources (tv, radio, etc) as well as citizen journalists (via blogs, twitter, etc) and republish the information about disasters and emergencies into SMS, email, web, and other mediums.

The point of this site is to act as a central hub for getting information quickly about your area in times of disaster.
